The Surgeon Scene is a deleted scene from Hellbound: Hellraiser II. The scene starts out with Kristy and Tiffany planning their escape from the hospital. They plan to take the elevator to the ground floor and just walk away. Instead, the elevator takes them to the hospital's basement instead of the ground floor. The women walk down one of the hallways. They're confronted by two doctors, one female and one male. The male doctor demands to know why the two women are down there. He states the basement is only used for surgery on mentally ill patients.
Kristy and Tiffany sense something's wrong with the doctors. The doctors remove their surgical masks. They're Pinhead and the Female Cenobite. Kristy and Tiffany spin around and run back to the elevator. The elevator doors slowly open. The women get in with seconds to spare. When the elevator doors open on the ground floor, Chatterer lunges at them. Kristy and Tiffany manage to dodge him. They push the buttons to close the elevator doors. Chatterer tries to grab them, but his hand gets stuck in the elevator doors. He screams as the elevator descends.
According to writer MrDisgusting on Bloody Disgusting, the Surgeon Scene was found on a VHS workprint. MrDisgusting's article explains the scene was dropped because the creators of Hellbound: Hellraiser II thought viewers would be confused by the Cenobites suddenly becoming doctors and the SFX were poorly done. Images of the Surgeon Scene have existed for years. They've been used for promotional purposes and select covers for VHS and DVD releases of Hellbound: Hellraiser II.
I've seen a lot of complaints about the poor quality and poor execution of the Surgeon Scene. The scene isn't the best, but it could have been better with work. Maybe the Cenobites posed as doctors so they could lure Kristy and Tiffany into the basement for some torturous fun. Alternatively, maybe the Cenobites were having fun with someone else and the women accidentally stumbled upon them while escaping the hospital.
According to iHorror, the Surgeon Scene was lost for almost 30 years until Arrow Films found a copy of it. The Surgeon Scene appears as a special feature on Arrow Films' Hellraiser Trilogy DVD release in the UK. The DVD set is Region B.
