See You Soon - 14 second horror film from David F. Sandberg on Vimeo.
Submission for the Raindance Halloween 14 Second Horror Film Competition
A woman sits alone in her bedroom. She looks at a photo of a man; she misses him quite a lot. The woman hears a noise. She turns, but no one's there. She looks back to the photo.Wes she looks at it, she notices a reflection of a person in the glass of the photo. The person stands behind her in the doorway. The woman realizes something strange is going on. At the same time, the figure she saw reflected in the doorway is standing right behind her. The strange figure has long teeth, grey skin, and completely white eyes.
My Thoughts
See You Soon is very minimalistic. It has no plot, no dialogue, and no back story. We don't know anything about the characters. The woman might be sad because the man in the photo recently died. He and the woman might have recently ended their relationship. One of them could be on a trip, and the woman just misses her partner.
Despite its minimalism, See You Soon still sent chills down my back. At first, I thought the noise in the hallway was the man in the photo, to maybe someone else, like a roommate.
Another thing that chills down my back was the title of the movie. I thought it referred to the man and woman meeting again. After watching it, maybe it refers to the entity. It could have watched her for a while. The phrase "see you soon" could mean the entity came back repeatedly to watch her. Being stalked, or followed, by a supernatural entity is quite scary.
